Custom Law

Import Rules:
For passengers arriving with goods for personal use purchased within the EU:
If the product or products are buyed in any store of the EU and brought to Spain, there is no limit, all taxes included and those goods are for the travelers or their own families and brought as a gift.

Passengers arriving from non EU countries (included Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, Channel Islands, Gibraltar and other similar territories):
1) Tobacco, for 17 years old passengers and older:
- 200 cigarrettes or 100 small cigars (maximum 3 grams each), o
- 50 cigars, o 250 grams of tobacco, or
- proportional product.
2) Alcoholic beverage, for 17 years old passengers and older:
- 1 liter of alcoholic beverage with more than 22% or non denatured etilic alcohol with more than 80% of the volume, or
- 2 liter of spirituous drink or aperitif with wine or similar drinks, with less than 22% of the volume or sparkling wines or liqueur, or
- a proportional mix of these products, and also
- 4 liters of wine and 16 liters of beer.
3) Pharmaceutical drugs, only if the passengers really need them;
4) Other goods (for the travelers), for the total amount of:
- €430, per adult, or
- €150, if younger than 15 years old.

Animal origin products from outside the EU are prohibited, except if they are from Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland. They are not authorised to be imported in a EU country, except a limited amount from Andorra, Croatia, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland.

Wheapons:
They are prohibited except with a special permission from the police.
Hunting weapons: no special requirements.

Pets:
Cats and dogs are subject to some special rules (EU) number 998/2003 of the European Parliament. Animals from Gibraltar have different rules than those from the EU. Import of non vaccinated pets younger than 3 months old is legal when they have a running authorization. All the animals can be subject to an examination by the veterinarian custom. Dogs and cats have to stay in a rigid case or similar (recommended).

Import birds from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam is prohibited.

Import of currency

The same rules apply for import and export. No restrictions within the EU.
If money comes from outside the EU: More than €10.000 or similar value in some other currency (included checks) have to be declared.
